FC Free is a simple arithmetic Formula Calculator for those who need only addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

It consists of a single Formula tab, and it is similar to FC Lite, but with no File, Edit, View, Calculators or Options menus. As with all the other FC Products, you can do several calculations at once, by typing in calculations separated by commas. The FC Arithmetic and FC Scientific screenshots illustrate this.

It comes with complete context-sensitive Help, Examples, Hints and Tooltips.

FC Free consists of a single Formula tab, with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and no menus except Help.

It comes with extensive Help, Hints and Tooltips. The Help and Hints include a complete range of feature and context-sensitive information, plus examples. The Tooltips explain the purpose of each edit box and button.

Users of FC Free can:

• Type in any calculation that uses addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including calculations in parentheses


• Do several things at once, using calculations separated by commas


• Use copy-and-paste to construct calculations, import numbers from other software packages, or record calculations in a different format.

Since the operations and tab pages are limited, users of FC Free can’t:

• Do some arithmetic operations, such as finding roots


• Apply mathematical functions


• Calculate statistics, except by typed-in formula


• Combine typed-in calculations with the use of buttons.

All the other FC Products have several menus (File, Edit, View, Calculators, Options and Help), but FC Free only has the Help menu.

Because there are limited menus, users of FC Free can’t:

• Save or load calculations


• Save initialisations, to determine how FC Free is launched


• Change settings, for example to control the way the number of decimal places in results is determined, or to change the edit-box text color, font and size


• Duplicate the single Formula tab page


• Clear the edit boxes on the Formula tab page after a calculation has been performed


• Resize or maximize the FC Free dialog-box window


• Make the dialog-box stay on top when switching to another window


• Enable default menu items


• Suppress Hints or Tooltips.

FC Free does not include the User Manual when delivered.
