How To

How can I do substantial arithmetical calculations?

Purchase FC Arithmetic. FC Lite is also an arithmetic calculator, but it can only add, subtract, multiply and divide. In contrast, FC Arithmetic has more operators and features, and, among other things, it can calculate statistics, powers, roots and percentages.

How can I do scientific or mathematical calculations?

Purchase FC Scientific or FC Max. FC Max has all the same features as FC Scientific, but with an extra tab, called The Works, that contains all the functionality in one convenient place.

How can I keep a record of my calculations?

You can save calculations, customisations and settings in native format using File/Save or File/Save As, or copy and paste to any other type of document. Saved calculations can be opened and re-used, with File/Open and Load.

How can I tailor the launch of my FC Product?

First set up your FC Product as you would like it using Options/Settings and the View menu, including dialog-box size and position. Then go to File/Save Initialisations, select the type of launch you require and click on Save.

How can I restore the default tabs for my FC Product?

Go to Options/Customise and click the Defaults button.

Problems

I loaded a saved calculator into my FC Product and got only a blank Formula tab - why?

The loaded calculator was saved by a different FC Product and has tab pages that aren’t part of your FC Product.

For example, FC Lite can only access Formula tab pages on loaded calculators, because this FC Product doesn’t have any of the other tab pages.

I saved some initialisations, but my FC Product isn’t being launched in the way I expect - why?

Clicking Save on the File/Save Initialisations dialog box saves View menu item checked states, and Options/Settings dialog box check box states and drop list values, so make sure that you set these according to the launch initialisations you require before saving initialisations.

The FormulaCalculator.init file is used to save initialisations, and it is saved in the same folder as your FC Product. Make sure you are running the same FC Product that saved the initialisations.

I saved Disable Tooltips as an initialisation, but I still get them - why?

File/Save Initialisations only saves the state of the check boxes in the Disable Tooltips group in the dialog box shown when you click on Options/Settings. So first you must disable Tooltips using this dialog box before saving initialisations.
